I just loved this story! It had an interesting group of characters, some very likeable, others not so! It is mainly concerned with Charlotte ( one of the Mrs McKinnons) and Matthew. Matthew is a major in the army and has recently inherited the title of Baron. He has his traumatic events in Indian to come to terms with? Charlotte also has a delightful son, Davie. It is also the story of their two families and the problems they have with them. Their romance took a while to happen but this helped to know the characters. This is a long audiobook but it held my interest until the end, in fact I was sorry when it finished. The narrator had such an easy voice to listen to and she used different voices and accents for the characters. This was one of the best audiobooks I have listened to.
